The latest update: San Francisco Small Businesses need your HELP, they are barely hanging on! Please share the following with your networks  (ACTION STEPS below) THE PROBLEM Due to COVID-19 Shelter in Place, San Francisco Mayor Breed has enacted a moratorium on commercial rent (businesses didn't need to pay their rent), BUT that expires SEPTEMBER 30th!  We are a city that prides ourselves on our unique and diverse business community and these businesses put their heart and soul into their stores. It is their life. Please help us retain this important and vital aspect of what makes us “The City”. THE SOLUTION (for now) On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, two Ordinances co-sponsored by San Francisco Supervisors Aaron Peskin and Dean Preston will be discussed at the Board of Supervisors hearing  at 2pm. One is to pass an Emergency Ordinance to temporarily restrict landlords from evicting commercial tenants for non-payment of rent that was not paid due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The other is to amend the Administrative Code to support the Emergency Ordinance. Ultimately, we request the following changes to the Ordinances: (1) do not allow landlords to charge late charges or default interest on rent not paid during the moratorium, and (2) give tenants at least one year after the emergency order is lifted to repay any rent deferred. TAKE ACTION NOW1. SIGN & SHARE our Online Petition on all of your SOCIAL MEDIA (FB, IG, TWT, etc and don't forget to @the supervisors and Mayor)- https://www.change.org/p/sf-district-supervisors-keep-our-small-businesses-alive 2. EMAIL SF Supervisors expressing your support for the ordinance and changes/additions highlighted above (here is the template email and email addresses included)- https://docs.google.com/document/d/12ljalzcWSoSvfkGo438Q-1VMWXFn3qY0CcgYqAGZ7kA/edit?usp=sharing 3. CALL your district supervisors expressing your support for the ordinance and changes/additions highlighted above (here is a roster with contact info)- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LGimVZrPLHpj4hMiZM05zwLk72oDkSNPTXYtNkWsc-Q/edit?usp=sharing 4. SPEAK UP- Make a public comment supporting the ordinance and changes at the Board of Supervisors meeting this coming Tuesday 9/22 starting at 2pm. Meeting Call In Number- tel:+14156550001,,1467500645#,,# Meeting Agenda- https://sfbos.org/sites/default/files/bag092220_agenda.pdf Let's make this happen and save the small businesses we have left that contribute to the overall unique fabric of our City!
